Also known as the Chaste Tree

This herb has a long tradition of use as a general balancer for the female hormones. Despite its common name, Chaste Tree, Agnus castus is actually a shrub found in the Mediterranean.


Agnus castus exerts a balancing effect on the activity of the female sex hormones, this activity may be of benefit to those suffering from Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) - a condition characterized by anxiety, irritability, mood swings, sore breasts and fluid retention which occurs between 7 and 14 days before menstruation.
Agnus Castus may be of benefit for those suffering from fibroids and endometriosis under the supervision of a Healthcare Professional. Agnus Castus may also be of help during the menopause where the bleed is very heavy and too frequent.
Agnus Castus is believed to work with the pituitary gland to increase the secretion of luteinising hormone, which leads to an increase in the production of progesterone during the second half of the menstrual cycle. It has also been reported to inhibit prolactin. Both these actions are thought to be important in PMS, particularly as many who suffer with the problem have a greater sensitivity to prolactin. Agnus castus has also been found to be beneficial in the treatment of acne in both men and women. This herb takes between one and three cycles to start working, though this tincture has a speedier action than taking this in tablet form.

Directions for use:
Adults: 15-20 drops in a little water twice daily.
Children: This product is not recommended for children under 14 years of age

Black Cohosh 50ml Black Cohosh 50ml
This is a member of the Buttercup family. Black Cohosh affects the oestrogen/progesterone balance in favour of oestrogen, this makes it useful for many menopausal symptoms.

A minor percentage of women with Premenstrual Syndrome experience low oestrogen symptoms such as mild depression and fatigue and this herb may be of help in these cases. Black Cohosh may also be useful where periods are erratic or the cycle is unduly long, as it may assist in re-establishing regular ovulation. Many women believe that Black Cohosh is effective in easing uterine cramps/painful periods (dysmenorrhoea).

100g of Fresh Herb Tincture (extracted in alcohol 65% by volume) typically contains the tincture of:

Directions For Use:
Generally: 15 to 20 drops in a little water twice daily.
Maintenance: 20 drops in water once daily.
Do not use if allergic to aspirin.
Do not take if you are on hormone replacement therapy, treatment for breast cancer, or taking oral contraceptives. If taken long term, you should have a one month break after six months.

This herb (often taken to help asthma) contains large amounts of silica, which mayhelp in the regeneration of connective tissue and strengthening of the pelvic floor tissue; improving the weakness that might give rise to stress incontinence.
Ingredients:
Tincture of organically grown fresh aerial parts of Galeopsis segetum (Hemp Nettle), extracted in (50% v/v).
Directions for use:
Adults: 10 to 20 drops 3 times a day, in a little water.
Children: (2-12 years): 1 drop per year of age, 3 times a day, in a little water.

Menosan Menosan
A fresh herb tincture of sage, also known as salvia officinalis. Sage is believed to help rebalance the sweat-regulating mechanism in the brain. This is a simple, non-hormonal approach and appears to work well for many women to help during the menopause, as a precaution, however, it is contraindicated with hormonal medication.
The menopause signals the beginning of a new stage in a woman's life, usually between the ages of 45 and 60, although it may start in the mid to late thirties. This is a time of fundamental hormonal and functional adjustment and many of the symptoms (including hot flushes, mood changes, insomnia, palpitations and cystitis) are a result of the body trying to adapt to these changes.
